The Requirements

Mentoring doesn’t require a lot of special skills. Along with just a small time commitment, all you need is the ability to listen and offer friendship and encouragement to a young person. Each of our partners have different requirements they request of their mentors. Below you will find each of our organizations and the requirements that they request of their mentor applicants.


Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Alabama Participant Requirements

Each potential mentor is required to submit to a reference and background check before they can be matched. In addition, those in the Community‐based program must provide a drivers license and valid car insurance. Learn More

 

Boys and Girls Clubs of South Alabama Participant Requirements

Each potential mentor is required to submit to a background check before they can be matched. Learn More

 

Dumas Wesley Participant Requirements

Each potential mentor is required to submit to a background check before they can be matched.
Mentors will be asked to meet with their child weekly for at least one hour and commit to a term of six months. Learn More

All applicants must fill out an application and submit themselves to a background check. Learn More

 

Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast Participant Requirements

Peer mentors must be at least 16 years of age, and adult mentors must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer. Because consistency is critical for successful mentoring relationships, a minimum of a one-year commitment is required from all adult mentors.
